Here are some ways to integrate
HIV education and awareness into your school

CAMPUS EVENTS
- Have the event during a school lunch break.
- Health fair with HIV testing.
- Have posters, brochures, flyers, or red ribbons around school with HIV education and testing site locations.
- HIV facts to give during lunch break.
- Hand out red ribbons.
- Have t-shirts to wear during the event.
- Bring AIDS Memorial Quilt to your school.
- Youth dancing, singing, band or theater group that dedicates performances to those affected by HIV/AIDS
CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES
- HIV classroom activity or lesson plan. See Tools for Teachers.
- HIV educational session for parents.
- Info sheet for parents and students.
- HIV 101 presenter at your class or school.
- HIV+ youth speaker at your class or school.
- Visit or volunteer at a local HIV service organization.
- Have an essay contest.
- Offer extra credit assignment.
SOCIAL MEDIA
- Create a press release for your event and contact radio and TV stations.
- Create a PSA or a campus media campaign.
- Create or connect with a live theater project.
- Go on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram and share accurate HIV facts from the resources in this website.
- Host a film festival and show DVDs or webinar recordings in which other teens talk about their personal experiences with HIV/AIDS
- Facing AIDS activity: make a sign on a piece of paper and write a message about why or how you are Facing AIDS for World AIDS Day and beyond. Take a picture and post it on social media. For example, your sign could say “I’m Facing AIDS to help end stigma.”
INDIVIDUAL ACTION
- Volunteer at a local service organization.
- Participate in San Diego AIDS Walk.
- Educate yourself and your peers with accurate HIV info.
- Get tested for HIV.
- Talk with family, friends, and colleagues about HIV.
- Ask community leaders to increase their response to addressing the epidemic.
- Get involved with or host an awareness day event.
- Write a letter, article or ad for the school newspaper, newsletter or website about HIV/AIDS
